Chernyakhovsk (formerly Insterburg) is a city in the Kaliningrad region, founded in 1336. It received its original name in honor of the Kuch River and the word "castle" (from the German "burg"), the ruins of which can still be visited. In 1946, it was renamed Chernyakhovsk.
Chernyakhovsk is the third largest city in the region, but at the same time it has its own unique flavor and rich history, which is reflected in the bright architecture of East Prussia. Ancient streets, squares, churches and buildings of German architecture of the XIX-XX centuries will pleasantly delight even the most sophisticated travelers.
Trains and buses run from Kaliningrad. The route takes about 1.5 hours. Either in your own or rented car. The total distance is about 90 kilometers.
